You can walk out of college or university and into a paying job today. Let's look at two of these...
Law Enforcement
1. Regional Police. See below
2. OPP www.opp.ca
3. RCMP www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca
4. CSIS www.csis-scrs.gc.ca
5. Canadian Forces www.forces.gc.ca
Note: “For northern students the northern police forces can be great options. If you serve in the north for 4 years with the OPP you can choose where to live thereafter.” – LU Professor
Example: Peel Police - www.peelpolice.ca - five star rating in Canadian Career Directory.
Peel is the second largest municipal police service in Ontario which means more room for career mobility AND it serves Mississauga / Brampton (central location.) Peel's murder rate is less than or about the same as smaller cities such as Calgary and Edmonton and Winnipeg, and still less than half the count of Toronto's.
The Peel Regional Police follows the P.R.E.P Testing as of July 2008 for its constable selection process. Unlike every other police service in the province, the Peel Regional Police does not charge for its written and physical testings. However, the physical requirements are significantly more strenuous than for other police services.
AND they have Police TV! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY5Hx-TxH20 - 10:30 pm on Wednesdays on Rogers TV. How cool is that?!
